waiting to be written

Tiny Books are

journals and notebooks big and small, postcards and sketchbooks, anything that  can be filled with our thoughts, pictures and stories

a synergy of visual art, text and typography in the form of bite-sized editions  replete with the poetry of the everyday

souvenirs filled with the light and scents of the land, and with the many aspects of Greekness, whether contemporary or age-old, seen or unseen

utilitarian or decorative objects meant to add a touch of beauty to our days

Tiny Books

bite-sized picture books for people young and old

This is a series of small-sized illustrated editions conceived as minute doses of mindful inspiration to be injected into everyday life.

Each Tiny Book in the series hopes to bring together a different creative duo.

ΟΥΡΟΒΟΡΟΣ TINY BOOKS

Ourovoros

Ourovoros is about how we relate to time and about our place in life’s unbroken cycle; about the fleeting glimpses we are granted in our small and fragile lives of that vast, unending journey.

Ceramic artist and painter Mina Geraskli illustrates a brief narrative meditation on the passage of time by writer Maria Skamaga.

ΟΙΚΕΙΑ ΕΝΤΡΟΜΑ TINY BOOKS

Oikeia Entroma

Antigone Neta’s Oikeia Entroma (Familiar Terrors) is an entomology in verse, a poetic guide to the minuscule demons inhabiting our world.

“Our coexistence is a weird thing,” writes Orestis Netas in the book’s preface. “Rarely can one connect with them emotionally. Usually what surfaces is an instinctive sense of horror coupled with awe-beyond-comprehension. Only Antigone has managed to relate to them. How odd!”

Illustrator Thanassis Netas creates a series of drawings to accompany multifarious creative Antigone Neta’s poetic insectology.

the souvenir

the spirit of the land

THE SOUVENIR ΤΕΤΡΑΔΙΑ ΓΕΜΑΤΑ ΕΛΛΑΔΑ

On Greece and the Greeks

This is a series of medium-sized thematic notebooks aimed at lovers of Greece and the Greeks, native or otherwise, based here or in transit, and at all lovers of literature and the act of writing alike. Their simple yet sophisticated design incorporates a vision of Greece and its people conjured by authors and poets for whom Greece was both muse and home: Lawrence Durrell, Patrick Leigh Fermor, Henry Miller, Jacques Lacarrière. Their words celebrate Greece’s most unique and memorable qualities. These evocative vignettes sidestep the more common associations popularized by the tourism industry, in favor of the land’s iconic and timeless features. It is precisely that which makes the notebooks the ideal souvenir to take home or the perfect gift for the writer(s) in your life.

the jotter

THE JOTTER ΤΟ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΜΑΤΑΡΙΟ

impermanent titbits

Nothing beats a pretty notebook when it comes to jotting down ideas and other fleeting stuff: to-do lists, sudden insights, things to be grateful for, doodles, sketches of people sitting across from you on the metro, a fragment of everyday talk worth remembering. Visually compelling, sustainable and as light as a feather, the TB Jotter will take in any and all of the impermanent tidbits that compose the experience of the everyday.

the journal

Remember what it was to be me: that is always the point.

Joan Didion, On Keeping a Notebook

THE JOURNAL ΤΟ ΗΜΕΡΟΛΟΓΙΟ

narratives of the self

The Tiny Books journal has been created with writers, diarists and other creative intellects in mind. It is aimed at all those who not only find solace in creative self-expression, but also value the act of writing per se and its traditional tools. Its understated elegance hopes to give pride of place to the written word and to make content – your content – the center of attention.
The Tiny Books journal series is also conceived as a space to showcase the work of different Greek graphic designers and illustrators. Individual diaries in the series are to be designed by young up-and-coming creatives hopefully serving to introduce their work to a wider audience.
Last but not least, the series is an eco-conscious project using acid-free paper and recycled binding materials in line with contemporary sustainability standards.

about

Tiny Books is a project dreamed up by two longtime friends, a printer and a writer/translator, who share a passion for narrative and a special affection for beautiful, edgy editions.
They’ve always had a soft spot for journals and diaries as both repositories of human thought and utilitarian objects of art and design.
Their aim is to collaborate with fellow dreamers to cater to the many inspired thinkers, feelers and writers out there in all their wondrous diversity.
